The fifteen year nine month career of D5108/24108 was split between North Eastern Region and Scottish Region depots.

Built BR Darlington Works (batch D5094 - D5113).
Shortened fuel tank & full size water tank.
Four upper and four lower air filters on non-BIS side, three upper and four lower on BIS side.
Tyne Dock - Consett modifications (high level air pipe fitted, water tank removed).
Headcode discs centered on cab front (Glasgow modification).
Time between last Classified repair and withdrawal: ?? months.
Time between withdrawal & scrapping: 18 months.

Allocations

The frames for D5108 were laid down at Darlington Works during July 1960, D5108 was new to Gateshead (52A) on October 22nd 1960. Further transfers were:

April 1974 to Haymarket.
April 1974 to Eastfield.
August 1975 to Haymarket.
October 1975 - stored serviceable.
April 26th 1976 - stored unserviceable.
July 18th 1976 withdrawn.

Renumbered November 16th 1973.

After withdrawal 24108 was stored at Millerhill during October & November 1975, then at Haymarket from November 1975 until March 1976, then moved to Carlisle from March 1976 until December 8th 1977 when it was forwarded to Doncaster Works and broken up during February 1978.

On July 15th D5103 & D5108 worked the 15.50 Newcastle - Birmingham New Street throughout??

September 3rd saw D5097/D5108 & B1 61002 in charge of the Clifton (York) – Red Bank empty coaching stock.

On November 4th D5108 was noted at Darlington shed.

D5107 & D5108 worked the 06.55 Newcastle - Edinburgh on December 17th.

1965

During January D5108 was noted at Derby Works with collision damage to the 2nd man's side of the No.2 cab, which was estimated at £1,250 for repair. When outshopped the repaint (green/yellow) was limited to the environs of the No.2 cab, but did include full yellow cabfronts.

Condition month??: green livery with full yellow cabfronts, gangway doors in place, high level air pipe, no frame level stripe (appears to have been painted over), shortened fuel tank, no water tank, three-rung bogie mounted footsteps, ridge sided sandboxes, blanking plates fitted, hand/footholds present.
