Built: BR Derby Locomotive Works.
Boiler room grilles sheeted over (1976).
Final exhaust roof panel: raised, square (previously raised 'L' shaped).
Never carried 'Domino' headcode display.
Time between last Classified repair and withdrawal: 50 months.
Time between withdrawal & scrapping: 16 months.

25112 was the 57th Class withdrawn, one of seventeen retired during November 1980.

After withdrawal 25112 was moved with 25114 to Swindon Works on March 20th 1981, with 25112 being broken up there by the second week of March 1982.

1964
April 8th 1964 D5262 made its test run on the 1T48 empty coaching stock test train roundtrip from Derby to the Corby area.

On July 5th stabled at Toton were D5184, D5185, D5234, D5243, D5244, D5245, D5247, D5249, D5251, D5257, D5262, D5263, D5268, D5277, D5279, D5280 & D5281.

1966
On the afternoon of February 12th D5262 was at Avenue Sidings with a down freight.

On February 20th D5262 & D7506 were stabled at Westhouses.

Noted at Nottingham shed on Sunday September 18th were D5208, D5261, D5262, D5282, D7534, D7539, D7540, D7548, D7574, D7593 & D7657.

1967
On the afternoon of January 19th D5262 was shunting at Bedford.

On the evening of June 27th D5200, D5262 & D7676 were stabled at Derby.

On the afternoon of July 4th D5262 was on empty coaching stock at Derby.

At mid-day on July 5th D5262 & D5267 were stabled at Derby.

On the evening of July 11th D5262 & D5267 were stabled at Derby.

The recorded passenger workings for D5262/25112 are so far very few. The first recorded passenger working took place on July 15th with D5262 & D 5267 working the roundtrip Nottingham - Llandudno Town service.

On November 18th noted at Springs Branch were D5263, D5262, D7636 & D7610.

1968
On the evening of April 19th D5262 was noted light engine at Bolton station.

On the afternoon of April 20th D5262 was the Wigan NW pilot.

The 09.00 Liverpool - Glasgow was regularly worked to Preston by steam during the first four months of the year. The increasing availability of diesels saw these opportunities greatly reduced by May, whilst early in June noted were D5262 (3rd), D5248 (4th), D5154 (8th) and D7589 (15th).

On July 3rd D5262 was noted at Manchester Exchange on an up freight.

1969
The clear out of the remaining steam locomotives continued at a somewhat pedantic pace, at the beginning of March Lostock Hall shed still contained twelve machines. However March 26th saw 5262 drag 44874, 45318, 45386 & 45444 to Drapers yard at Hull.

1970
On the afternoon of October 3rd 5262 was westbound at Wigan Wallgate with a freight.

1971
Condition June: two-tone green livery, full yellow ends.

1973
On the evening of January 8th 5262 was noted at York with the Gateshead breakdown crane.

At about 6pm on March 23rd 5262 was noted passing Manchester Victoria with an up van train (4H07).

On August 10th a relief Euston - Carlisle was worked forward from Preston by 5262 & 5176.

1974
Class 24/25s stabled at Newton Heath depot at 3.30pm on December 20th included 24022/25/52 and 25042/54, 25112, 25291/298. On December 21st 25112 was noted at Manchester Victoria with the 8X85.

1975
On January 14th 25112 was noted at Manchester Victoria with the 4J28. On January 15th & 16th 25112 was noted at Manchester Victoria with the 4P06. On January 18th 25112 was noted at Manchester Victoria with the 4J28. On January 30th 25112 was noted at Manchester Victoria with the 5J24.

On February 5th 25112 was noted at Manchester Victoria.

On the morning of May 23rd 25112 was shunting at Guide Bridge.

On May 31st 25112 was stabled at Guide Bridge.

On June 20th 25112 worked the 05.07 Leeds City - Manchester Victoria vans (4M03). On June 24th 25112 was noted at Manchester Victoria with the 5J24.

25112 was noted at Northenden Junction with loaded ICI hopper wagons (6F42) for Northwich on September 13th.

On September 16th 25112 worked the 5J48 14.32 Guide Bridge Brookside Sidings - Bolton vans.

On September 27th 25112 was stabled at Newton Abbot.

1976
On August 20th 25112 made a test run from Derby Works.

The snag sheet for August 20th recorded:

No.2 end was leading, recordings were made from the No.2 cab. Departure from Nottingham was seven minutes late due to a locomotive problem.

A Leicester - Skegness roundtrip was worked by 25112 & 25308 on June 4th.

25112 was noted at Cambridge with a weedkilling train on September 2nd.

1978
On the afternoon of January 7th 25112 & 25119 were stabled at Bristol Bath Road.

25112 was stabled at Cockshute on January 22nd.

On Thursday September 7th 25112 worked the 09.55 Willesden to Norwood and the return 12.00 Norwood to Willesden. On Tuesday September 19th 25112 worked (presumably) the 09.55 Willesden - Norwood and returned light engine in the path of the 12.00 Norwood to Willesden.

25112, 25114, 25173 & 25179 were all noted at Rugby station on October 7th for Sunday permanent way work.

On Monday October 23rd 25112 worked the 09.55 Willesden to Norwood and the return 12.00 Norwood to Willesden.

25112 was noted at Watford yard on December 16th.

On Tuesday December 19th 25112 worked the 09.55 Willesden to Norwood and the return 12.00 Norwood to Willesden.

1979
On Monday February 12th 25112 worked the 09.55 Willesden to Norwood and the return 12.00 Norwood to Willesden.

On the morning of July 23rd 25075, 25111 & 25112 were noted at Bletchley.

25112 was noted on electrification work at Bedford Midland on August 9th.

On a misty November 22nd the morning Whitemoor - Wisbech freight was hauled by 25112, including vanfits carrying seed potatoes. The No.1 end headcode panel displayed 1*12.

25039, 25112 & 25132 were stabled at Leicester at 10am on November 26th.

25112 was noted at Healey Mills depot on November 30th.

1980
On the afternoon of March 25th 25112 worked the 6X04 between Whitehall Junction & Carnforth.

On June 17th 25112 worked the 16.02 Crewe - Cardiff and on June 18th worked the 07.40 Cardiff - Crewe and the 17.10 Cardiff - Crewe.

On August 23rd 25112 & 25114 started out with the 08.51 Leicester - Skegness but were failed at Nottingham and replaced by 47201. The same pair were together on August 26th working a roundtrip relief Nottingham - Skegness.

25112 was retired on November 1st 1980.
