Unidentified Peak at Dore & Totley
An un-identified BR/Sulzer Type 4 takes the Chinley line with an unknown working,
possibly a Sheffield - Manchester local. Although a little grimy the Peak is as delivered
from the Workshops, and without any yellow panels on the nose, the picture is probably from
1961/62.
For the purists or those with local knowledge this is in fact Yorkshire, Derbyshire is less than a mile to the south
of here. The county boundary actually cuts across the railway tracks as they pass through Totley Tunnel on the
Chinley route and Bradway Tunnel on the line to Chesterfield. Also behind the photographer was a short tunnel which
carried the south side of the triangle, allowing direct running between Chesterfield & Chinley.
