On May 25th D5052 worked the 09.00 Liverpool - Glasgow as far as Preston. This working was one of the last to be diagrammed for steam haulage, albeit through the end of the winter timetable it was Mondays & Saturdays only, diesels covered the other days.
Condition no month (but probably summer): blue/yellow livery, gangway doors present, shortened fuel tank, full size water tank, no blanking plates fitted, hand/footholds plated over, straight sided sandboxes, three-rung bogie mounted footsteps, (paintwork looks reasonably ex-works).
Condition May: blue/yellow livery, gangway doors present, shortened fuel tank, full size water tank, blanking plates fitted, hand/footholds plated over.
On June 2nd the 09.15 Llandudno - Birmingham was worked by 5052.

During late July 24052 was placed into unserviceable store, an unenviable situation for a locomotive that was not even a year out of a Classified repair at Derby.
24052 was withdrawn on December 4th 1976.
Condition August: blue/yellow livery, gangway doors sheeted over, shortened fuel tank, full size water tank, blanking plates fitted, hand/footholds plated over, No.2 cab roof has no ventilators above cab doors.
